NOTL is the official western terminus of the Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail and the northern terminus of the very popular Niagara River Recreation Trail. Along the Trail, you'll discover two historic military forts, the Shaw Festival, dozens of shops, restaurants and wineries.

  • Off-road portion of the Trail meanders through the Common.
  • On-road portion follows Mary Street/Lakeshore Rd.
  • Caution required along stretches of Lake Shore Rd (approximately 6km) where there are no or narrow shoulders and the speed limit is 60kph. This portion is not yet signed or designated as Trail at this time. Official Trail resumes at Townline Road.
  • To see more of the Lake and the lovely neighbourhoods in NOTL, start at Nelson Park and follow the residential streets (Ricardo, Queen and Niagara Blvd.)

  1. Take exit 47 for Ontario Street                                                                                
  2. Turn left (north) at Ontario Street (signs for Country Rd- 42/ Ontario Street)            
  3. Continue onto Lakeshore Road
  4. Continue onto Grant- Niagara Townline Road
  5. Slight right (east) at Lakeshore Road
  6. Continue onto Mary Street
  7. Turn left (north/east) at King Street

From Buffalo:

  1. Take Peace Bridge (Toll Road)
  2. Merge onto QEW
  3. Take exit 38 for Glendale Avenue
  4. Take first left (west) onto York Road
  5. Take first right (north) onto Airport Road
  6. Turn right (north/east) at Niagara Stone Road
  7. Continue onto Mississagua Road
  8. Turn right (south/east) at Mary Street
  9. Turn left (north/east) at King Street
