The Rose City
Welcome to the City of Welland, a truly historic canal city situated in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula. Visitors marvel at the area’s natural beauty as they enjoy any number of festivals, sporting events and outdoor activities. Known officially as the Rose City, Welland is home to over 350 acres of fine parks and has one of the finest rose gardens in the country. It is also home to the Welland Recreational Canal, once part of the St. Lawrence Seaway System and Merritt Island, an outdoor paradise nestled along the waterway.
Welland has a proud cultural heritage; our residents represent a diverse blend of many ethnic backgrounds, including the 3rd largest French-speaking population in the province. International luncheons and celebrations are held throughout the year by 11 different cultural organizations. Take some time to get to know Welland. We’re only a short trip away but a world apart.
