Niagara-On-The-Lake
Welcome to historic Niagara-on-the-Lake, the first capital of Upper Canada. Located at the juncture of the Niagara River and Lake Ontario, our Town is home to 15,000 residents who welcome over 2 million tourists annually.
People travel from around the world to experience the Town’s unique charm and attractions, including historic Fort George, Brock’s monument, beautifully conserved heritage homes, prestigious spas, resorts and bed and breakfasts, breath-taking parks and golf course, and world-class wineries. Our vineyards account for 84 per cent of Canada’s wine production and our wineries produce many internationally acclaimed vintages, including our world-famous ice wine.
Honoured in 1996 as the “Prettiest Town in Canada,” our historic Old Town area boasts a number of quaint shops, boutiques and restaurants, as well as public and private art galleries, the centuries-old Court House, museums, and of course, the renowned Shaw Festival Theatre.
In 2012, Niagara-on-the-Lake will launch its commemoration of the War of 1812 and we invite you to join in the many festivities and re-enactments recognizing 200 years of peace and friendship with our American neighbours. Please visit
