Adjacent to the Jordan House Hotel, but with separate entrances, is the renovated Jordan House Tavern. There has been a roadhouse on this site since 1844 and it has hosted everything from church services to vigilante meetings in its history. The photos show that a lot has changed from an architectural perspective, but the same spirit of inclusiveness and casual welcome still remains. The renovation included the use of original beams and the fireplace is built from fieldstones that were originally part of the Jordan Housecellar: the old place is gone but far from forgotten. Niagara wines, beers on tap and a full bar are offered along with a menu of casual food that features soups, salads, burgers and other grill items. Not to mention hand-cut fries that are addictive!  We have an outdoor summer patio area, but we are also ready for colder weather with a great fireplace and indoor pleasures such as a pool table in the mezzanine.

The Crick family and Keith’s Restaurant are a tradition in the heart of Fonthill and we are very proud to be part of the business community in the Town of Pelham. Hundreds of people have worked at Keith's over these past 55 years and some of our customers are now fourth generation. Moms and Dads bring their kids in and tell them that they remember coming with their parents and grandparents to enjoy the good homemade food at Keith's.  In 1986 the exterior  verandahs of the restaurant were rebuilt to revert back to the same look as in 1929 when the building was originally built and Keith’s Restaurant was designated as a Heritage property. Keith's Restaurant also host on-going exhibits of works by local artists with paintings displayed around the dining room. This 9,000 square foot mansion was built as a family residence 120 years ago and is a Niagara Region landmark. The Keefer's were Canada's most important engineering dynasty, overseeing canals, bridges, our nation's new Parliament. Constructed of red stone, features include: eight fireplaces, 12 foot high ceilings, a grand staircase, outstanding hardware, and authentic details. Luxury and history await your discovery.

The Mansion House is a historical landmark, a restaurant, pub and venue for live music. It was originally constructed in the early 1800s to be a home and store for William Hamilton Merritt, the builder of the original Welland Canal. In the 1820s, the building was turned into a hotel with the addition of a large dining room and office. Life carried on in the hotel, with travelers and sailors boarding in the rooms, and Merritt conducting his business. In 1859, a fire raged through downtown St. Catharines, and caused significant damage to the Mansion House. During the rebuilding the name changed a number of times, until 1868 when it was re-named The Mansion House. With the bar's longevity, it is officially the oldest tavern in St. Catharines, and longest running licensed establishment in all of Canada. Today The Mansion House still serves food and drink to its patrons, featuring an extensive selection of beers on tap and a lunch and dinner menu. The pub puts on live bands multiple nights a week, with local and touring bands sharing the stage.  So grab a bite to eat and a pint to drink and soak in some St. Catharines heritage in its longest running tavern.
