The Mystery on the Lake theatrical format is appropriately dubbed, “Theatre that ‘moves’ you!”… since the performance takes place throughout a variety of related venues that are linked through an engaging plot, rather than the traditional theatre performance that takes place in just one location.  Audience members walk between the venues and are integrated into the show through the comedy and drama of live improvisational theatre and the fun of teamwork in collecting clues and solving puzzles. Part live theatre, part scavenger hunt, part mystical adventure, and part walking tour, MOTL performances are all presented in an environment of mystery and intrigue as audience members work together in groups of 12 on their pursuit, searching for clues and interacting with unusual characters played by actors. Mystery on the Lake Productions now offers two different shows in Niagara... The Secret of Butlersburg: Picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake is the setting for this interactive adventure. Become part of a secret society and find the hidden treasures of the Butler's Rangers. Audience members walk about 3 km (1.9 miles) during the show with frequent stops. The Last Illusionist: Discover the Queen Street Arts and Entertainment District of Niagara Falls as you become involved in a mysterious plot of magic, illusion, danger and entertaining twists and turns. You will have an exclusive look behind the scenes exploring the dark corners of the entertainment district as you unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding the legend of The Last Illusionist.  Book your tickets online or Call 1-866-386-2921.

The Merchant Alehouse is a beloved brewpub and restaurant in the heart of downtown St. Catharines. Situated on St.Paul Street, The "Merch" is a great place to grab a delicious homebrewed pint, all of which are brewed on the premises. Some of the ones they feature include their own Ironwood cider, Blond Bombshell, Old Time Hockey Ale, and Drunken Money Oatmeal Stout. They also feature a number of seasonal beers such as the Blueberry Wheat, Strawberry Blond and ever so popular Headless Horsemen Pumpkin Ale. In addition they carry a number of drinks by other microbreweries on tap including Niagara's Best Beer, Taps Brewery, and the Great Lakes Brewing Company.   The food is fantastic and features a number of options including many pub style foods such as fish and chips, oatmeal stout burgers, beer battered pickles, numerous sandwiches and salads, pizzas, nachos, chicken fingers and more. Reasonably priced, there are many vegetarian options and the brewpub has a great atmosphere and provides snappy service.     The Merchant Ale House is a great place to end a nice fall day with a delicious pint of their Pumpkin Ale, a favourite of many. The Pumpkin Ale usually becomes available in early October and lasts until supplies run out, usually in the end of November.  They add roasted pumpkin with the grain in the mash tun to produce a uniquely flavoured wort. The wort is then boiled with a light addition of Goulding hops cinnamon and nutmeg to accent the beer.  It's not one to miss!   The Merchant Ale House has a warm and friendly atmosphere, featuring a wooden decor and big open windows in the front facing out onto St.Paul Street.   Depending on what evenings you choose to go on it can be busy, but it's always worth the trip and there are plenty of tables. On some nights you might also find talented musicians playing live music in the evenings. This is most often free of charge. It's a good choice if you just want to go get a drink and play some darts, or go grab a meal.   As any bar, it requires patrons to be 19 years of age or over.
