If you are interested in history, Forks Road Pottery is an excellent place to visit. One of the only train depots left in the Niagara Penninsula, this 19th century station was built around 1853. It is believed to be the fourth oldest train station still standing in Canada and was once home to the Great Western Railway depot.  Forks Road Pottery is a local pottery and antique business.

Tony and Sheila Clennell make and sell unusually beautiful wood fired pottery in their workshop and studio on King Street in Beamsville. Their wood fired kiln is called a 'train' because it resembles a locomotive. It is really an oversized firebox with a long horizontal chimney that contains the pots and a vertical chimney to exhaust the flame.   Firings last approximately 36 hours and reach over 2300 degrees F. At white heat, the fly ash from the burning wood lands on the pots and melts to form a beautiful green glaze.   Woodfired pots generally have two distinct sides- windward and leeward. The windward side is the side that faces the flame. This side has a green ash glazed surface and the leeward side is usually a drier, more protected surface.   Woodfiring is a labour of love. To prepare for a wood firing and actually fire the kiln , takes easily 5 times as long as other conventional methods of firing. The results make the process worth the effort!   The Clennells have also produced instructional videos about large-scale pottery making and handle making for ceramic vessels. Angie Strauss is an impressionist painter. A visit to the Angie Strauss Art Gallery, at 125 Queen Street in Niagara Falls, is a must for art patrons. Niagara's largest and most popular gallery features the work of owner-artist Angie Strauss in a lovingly restored 1850s Colonial house, ideally located in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Angie's vibrant oils portray local scenes, vineyards, florals and landscapes as original paintings, giclees, prints and art cards.

The Fibre Garden is owned and operated by Alan McLean and John Valleau and it lives in our historic home in Jordan Village, Ontario, Canada. We are in the heart of Niagara Wine Country and there are plenty of things to see and do in the village and surroundings. The shop carries a very wide selection of natural breed-specific rovings, dyed rovings and top, wonderful hand-spun yarns from several different artists, dyes, natural dyes and mordants, spinning wheels, drop spindles, and other fibre gadgets. We are thrilled to be Dealers for Majacraft spinning wheels, as well as Louet and Ashford fibres, wheels, looms and more.

Housed in a large, renovated 1960’s home on the Niagara River, RiverBrink Art Museum features annually changing exhibits from the renowned art collection of Samuel E. Weir, Q.C as well as outstanding artworks on loan from other Canadian and International collections. The RiverBrink Art Museum Collection boasts over 1,400 works of art by Canadian, European and American artists which illustrate the history and development of Canada.  The collection contains works from some of Canada’s most significant artists:  Tom Thomson, Emily Carr, the Group of Seven, (Frederick Varley, Lawren Harris and A.Y Jackson, Arthur Lismer, J.E.H MacDonald), Cornelius Krieghoff, Paul Kane, Marc Aurèle de Foy Suzor-Côté.  The collection also contains art work by European artists Augustus John, Toulouse-Lautrec, Pierre August Renoir, Paul Cezanne, and Hilaire-Germain-Edgar Degas, among others. RiverBrink presents a popular summer lecture series and a walking tour of Queenston.

With the delicate stroke of a paintbrush, he tells the stories through his intricately detailed watercolour originals. Gazing at his images evokes sweet nostalgic memories. His Gingerbread Collection of artwork, lovingly crafted over three decades, is a tribute to families throughout the generations, telling stories of everything from weddings to Christmas parties to skating on the pond.

Over the years I have taught students of all ages and walks of life, who now create their own windows, lamps and sun catchers. Although I love to teach the art and share my knowledge, the most fulfilling part of this art is to repair old leaded glass windows and bring them back to life. After taking numerous courses in glass fusing, I now offer this as an optional two day weekend course. Glass fusing opens up another realm where one can use artistic skills in making plates, bowls, clocks and dichroic jewelry. Recently my home studio expanded into a retail shop in the Boutique Village of Jordan which offers not only glass, tools and equipment, but finished products as well. What was once a hobby, has now become a blossoming business!

The Grimsby Public Art Gallery is a public, non‑ profit gallery serving the Town of Grimsby and surrounding area. We are dedicated to the exhibition, preservation, encouragement, and collection of visual art of professional standard. We provide lectures, seminars, workshops, tours and other forms of public education relating to visual art. We provide exhibitions of contemporary Canadian art that include regional and local artists as well as artists from across Ontario and Canada. We present contemporary work in all media and we also exhibit historic work that provides a context for our artistic areas of interest, our permanent collection and our community. The gallery has a strong interest in print-making and other forms of multiple production, in popular imagery such as cartooning and commercial art, and in fine crafts. We have a particular interest in the book arts, a cross disciplinary area which incorporates many different types of artistic production including multiples, fine crafts and an understanding of the pivotal role of books in information dissemination. Because of our location in an environmentally sensitive region within the most densely populated area of Canada we maintain an interest in environmental art and art that examines the points where human activity and the natural world collide.

Paverpol is the number one textile- and decoration hardener. Only this first class product has a global safety hallmark! Paverpol is harmless to people, animals and plants, is waterproof, an adhesive and gets hard as a rock. Therefore, it is safe for both man and animals, as well as for the environment. Artists, hobbyists, schools and other groups use it to their complete satisfaction. Initially, Paverpol was developed by a group of artists who used it to make large objects. Paverpol's many applications has encouraged many individuals to express themselves in a creative way. PAVERPOL can be used to make all sorts of materials rock-hard, such as textiles, paper, chamois leather, fiberglass, self-hardening clay and all kinds of natural materials. It will adhere to wood, ceramics, plaster, concrete, stone and tempex (polystyrene foam) etc. You can make figurines, wire figurines, garden statues, dolls, sculptures and many, many decorations.

Kenneth Lane Smith's gallery contains a collection of photography and prints of his artistic work, including landscape scenery throughout Niagara. When viewing one of Kenneth Lane Smith's works, people commonly inquire, "Is that a painting or a photograph?. For him, it's the supreme compliment. "That tells me they're seeing what I see", Smith explains. I don't have the skills to do this with a pencil or brush, but with a camera, I can capture and present images exactly as I see them. Kenneth says he views the world as if wearing blinders. "I only see what is directly in front of me," he says "but I see it with great clarity. Somehow I often see what others do not." As a result, people will often look at one of his pieces and remark, "I've passed that spot dozens of times and had no idea it looked like that." To them, it did look different. But through the lens of his camera - captured at the right time, in the right light, and isolated from everything around it - the image indeed looks completely different. Kenneth Lane Smith lives in the historic Niagara-on-the-Lake region. Visitors are welcome to spend some time in Kenneth's studio in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The magnificent 1860s Victorian building is home to the Showboat Festival Theatre. The in timate 220-seat theatre with ‘in-the-round’ seat ing presents a truly unique theatrical experience. Celebrating its 26th summer season, there are four fabu lous productions running from June to September. As well as being home to the Show boat Festival Theatre, Roselawn is a community centre which is host of internationally acclaimed musicians, the Food and Wine Series, and the Canadian Author Series. The Roselawn Centre caters for groups of 30-80 for weddings, special occasions, family events and business seminars. Roselawn is easily accessed from any point in the Niagara Peninsula.

Each sculpture is hand formed, using methods both modern and ancient blacksmithing.  No two pieces are alike.  Sizes range from 10 inches to monumental. Special requests are welcome, such as specific configurations of family, or an addition to your existing family sculpture. Boris Kramer makes works of art that generate an emotional response.  Whether indoor or outdoor, they continue to make an impact in private and corporate settings. Shop Talk What material is used to make Kramer Sculptures? How are they made? How is their surface finished and what kind of care do they need? Here are some of the answers. Material Low carbon steel, often referred to as "mild steel" or "hot rolled" is best for forging as it is less brittle then higher carbon steels, resulting in less breakage during forging. Production A steel bar, usually round, is heated in a coal or gas fire (the forge), until it is red hot. At this point, it becomes relatively soft and malleable and can be hammered into various shapes on an anvil, using many types of hammers. This method of forging has changed little since ancient blacksmithing times, but it limits work output severely as it causes great strain on the body of the artist. To reduce some of the strain to the body, our artists use labour saving equipment to ease some of the labourious work and allow the creation of larger sculptures.

Canadian artist Edward Spera's creations are inspired from his travels across the globe. Numerous research trips have taken him across Africa, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Southeast Asia, China, Tibet, North, South & Central America. His latest journeys were concentrated in the Masai Mara, Kenya (Oct/Nov 08) and India & Maldives April/May 09. From these adventures he is able to take moments of time and turn them into detailed wonders of art. By doing so, Edward hopes to convey to the viewer the incredible beauty of the creatures that share this world with us.

Our thirty years of sales of Canadian Native Art have helped to continue and promote a positive economic base for many native people who are living off the land. If one was to look at our space as a work in progress, it is now home to one of the most provocative cross-sections of fine art and designer craft ever assembled under one roof in the Niagara Region.  The Jordan Art Gallery formed ten years ago with the intention of promoting artists exclusively from Niagara, and in the gallery's one thousand - plus square feet; we've been doing just that! The four founding partners have expanded to six full partners and two sharing, making a partnership of seven. JAG is an entirely independent venue, run by artists, for artists. As partners and artists we are committed to communicating our knowledge and perspectives on the disciplines we represent. There is often occasion to share with visitors, colourful anecdotes about the artists and their work. JAG also promotes monthly exhibitions in our feature artist space to show a new body of work by our Niagara Artists.
