Niagara Boating
Niagara Marinas have docking and boat launching facilities of good quality along the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and Lake Erie shores.
For detailed information and contact addresses on all aspects of recreational boating in Niagara - including all sources of weather information, regulations regarding customs, grey water, craft licensing and ID, navigation aids, nautical chart sources, regulations, fuelling and grey water handling, and local canal authorities - see the introduction to the current OMOA Ontario Marina Directory mentioned below.
How to Locate Water Craft Facilities
The Ontario Marina Operators Association (OMOA) issues an annual Ontario Marina Directory, a guide to member marinas in Ontario that are open to tourists. For a copy, contact local marinas in the area you plan to visit, or:

Some local Ontario authorities also publish regional guides to boat and docking facilities, and can provide information on smaller boat launch facilities. Look for special highway signs to guide you to local boat launching sites reachable from the larger provincial and local highways.
Documents You Will Need to Import a Motorboat
Motor-powered pleasure craft may enter Canada by trailer, or under their own power. Customs Canada will issue you an entry permit at your point of entry, good for a stay of up to 12 months. You will be asked to return the permit at your point of departure.
All boats powered by motors 7.5 kw (10HP) or over must be licensed, and the license number must be clearly indicated on both sides of the vessel's bow. Boat licenses from outside Ontario are accepted.
Restrictions
Garbage and sewage disposal facilities are located at marinas at many points around Ontario's lakes and along our rivers. Marinas with pump-out facilities are listed in OMOA's annual Ontario Marina Directory. You may not discharge garbage or untreated sewage overboard into our waters.
Driving water craft while impaired is illegal in Ontario.
Emergency Services and Repairs
The Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) is responsible for inland lakes and waterways not served by municipal police forces. Repair services are available through many marinas.
